Moved into an derelict house with a pond! Where to start?
Hello.
I recently moved into a home that has a large pond. Sadly it was drained and abandoned. I would state it’s around 5 feet deep, and 20 feet across. Possible bigger.
There’s 2 sheds full of filters, tubes, bio bacteria, you name it.
Appear it is all in operating order. However I need your assist in figuring out how to take it running and connected. Please post some resources you know around how to rush a pond, and how the percolate filter systems work.
i’ve maintained giant aquariums before, however I need to study alot more around how to retain a pond by after that spring time.
It is a breath taking pond made out of stone with a giant stone wall waterfall. Within my home there is an aquarium space and a small pond to winter the fish over in.
If you’ve a enormous knowledge in pond filtration/pumps, I would love and appreciate your help. I have the ability to also get photos of all the equipment.
It was a rental home for a little years, prior to we moved in.
The original owner moved to the UK and never returned. I’m not certain if it was drained on purpose, or if it simply dried out.
There’s a little rain water at the baseline now.

This is a huge lake and it sounds like it cost a lot of money, and even empty sounds like it must have been a chore. I wonder what terrible thing went wrong they caused to do so. Most people with abandoned ponds just quit caring for them anymore.
These guys even drained the water.
Sounds like trouble Brewin.

The best way, with a pond that size, is to have a professional come take a look at this.
You have some serious problems with it. Or it could be something small that the previous owners could not be calculated.
But because it is in disrepair, a professional should be able to tell you what needs to be determined. Hopefully not the investment should be replaced.
If the investment is leaking, the leak must be found and repaired, which could be very costly.
If the filters and pumps are the problem, which may be an easier fix, but even akriva.Mporeite to find a pool professionals in the phone book under ‘Lakes. Edit: I was hoping Pondlady will appear.
Answers are usually ground.

This is a difficult set of questions to answer because I could write forever the answer. Knowledge of your aquarium will voithisei.1: To learn about all equipment will probably be better served to hire a local pro for a few hours to explain what it is and how to use it. Each filtering system has similarities, but there are differences between commercial simaton.2: You do not need to winter inland aquarium fish if you are goldfish and koi carp used in limni.3: The reason the lake is empty is alarming. From my experience, 70% of home owners to install tanks abandoned within two years because of improper installation or lack of knowledge maintenance.
It may well be a leak in the lake.
It is possible the previous owner drained it for liability reasons, but at 5 foot deep hole in the ground is a big responsibility, too. Possible tenants to pierce the liner.
You should inquire about the particular brain before doing anything else.
You will need to perform two experiments and may have to wait until next spring to take, depending on your climate. First fill the reservoir with water and then just let it sit for a few days.
You will notice if the water drops dramatically.
Then turn on the waterfall (my experience, most leaks are the waterfalls and stream beds) sit back and see if the water level drops dramatically.
If there are no leaks, then a thumbs up to the prochorisei.Telos: There are a multitude of website out there with information about ponds and pond maintenance, below are just a connection that can be started.
But if you ever want to publish another issue with the photos of your equipment, you will always be happy to answer specific questions about specific pieces of equipment.
